Conditional enrolment while school-qualification recognition is pending
A conditional-enrolment document is linked to a pending recognition application. Check its validity, the institution and its limits before relying on it.

When enrolment is approaching and recognition of a non-university qualification is still pending, keep three documents separate: the application receipt, the conditional-enrolment document and the final decision. Treating them as interchangeable can create the wrong expectation with an education provider.
What it permits and what it does not establish
Section ten of the Order of 14 March 1988 regulates a document linked to a submitted application, specified studies or examinations and a validity period. Enrolment remains conditional. If recognition is not granted on the requested terms, enrolment or examination results obtained through the document may lose effect. Read the rules in the BOE.
Do not describe it as recognition already granted. Explain accurately what you applied for, when it was submitted and which document you hold. Keep the receipts so that discussions with the institution reflect the actual record.
Four questions for the education provider
- Which document is needed in my application, and at which stage?
- Which specific studies would the conditional enrolment cover?
- How should I provide the final decision or report a problem later?
- What academic and financial consequences should I understand before enrolling?
Ask for answers tied to the programme and intake. General information about the document does not confirm a place, a refund condition or entry to any course. Make an approaching deadline explicit.
Organise records by purpose
Keep the recognition application and receipt together, the conditional document separately, and the institution’s communications in another section. Add a short list of outstanding items. This makes it easier to respond to a specific request without mixing document versions.
Check the applicant details, named studies or examinations and dates before using the document. If something differs, ask the competent office how it should be corrected. Do not edit a stamped document yourself.
Plan for more than one outcome
Before a significant payment, ask what would happen if the recognition decision arrived after the course began or did not have the expected scope. A written answer helps you make informed enrolment and accommodation decisions.
For a first assessment, explain the course, your application’s status and the date that concerns you. This identifies the unresolved issue without assuming that recognition or a place will be granted.
